Jackie Collins

The Santangelos She was a great writer of dazzling romance. No one wrote like her because she lived in the world of celebrity, money and power from a very young age, if not all of her life. Her death makes me not want to regret writing more. Writing as much as I can, while I can. I don't want the books I've written to date, to be my only books.  I really hate when an author dies because of course that means no one will ever again read books by them ever. Unless all the author's books were written for them, which JC's were not. But this isn't about authors who have their books ghost written just to make more money, this is about the loss of a great woman, a great writer indeed. Sometimes loss helps us understand things, inadvertently. I was at the store last night and I feel like I looked at a Jackie Collins book for sale on the shelf at the exact moment of her death, when I found out this morning that she died. It was a facebook status I saw. I don'

5 of 5 Stars to Bloodstream by Tess Gerritsen

Bloodstream by Tess Gerritsen In April came the rains. In August came the heat. In November came the horror. It’s paying a return visit. The small resort of Tranquillity, Maine, seems like the perfect spot for Dr Claire Elliot to shelter her adolescent son, Noah, from the temptations of the big city and the traumatic memory of his father's death. Claire's hopeful that she can earn the trust of the town as she builds a new practice. But all her plans unravel with the onset of winter, when an outbreak of teenage violence, far more deadly than anything she has encountered in the city, erupts in the local school. In trying to find a medical explanation for this murderous epidemic, Claire stumbles upon an insidious evil which has blighted the town's past and threatens its future. Terrified that Noah too is at risk, she must prove her theory before everything she loves is destroyed.  Wow! This book was amazing! Really brilliant! Twists and turns everywhere and I never wou

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey; The 5th Wave Trilogy Book 2  For Cassie Sullivan and the rest of Earth's remaining human survivors, the situation was already desperate when the 5th Wave hit. It's about to get worse. No one yet knows the depths to which Earth's conquerors - the Others - will sink in order to rid the Earth of the human infestation, nor have they guessed the heights to which the human spirit can reach. Characters introduced in Book One will come to the fore - and others will face the ultimate test.  I loved the first instalment , but I'm not going to rate this book because I'm a writer and I know how bad it feels to get a low rating. Basically, there's no point in giving a book a bad rating because you didn't write it. You didn't put all that effort into writing it, the author did. However much I hate a book, I'll never rate it badly because there's no point in bringing down the over all book rating when plenty of other reade

5 of 5 Stars to The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

The 5th Wave Book 1 in the Trilogy Rick Yancey The first wave took out half a million people. The second wave put that number to shame. The third wave lasted a little longer; twelve weeks, four billion dead. In the forth wave you can't trust that people are still people. And in the 5th wave? No one knows. But it's coming. On a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs. Runs from the beings that only look human, who have scattered Earth's last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan may be her only hope. Now Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up. *** I was perusing Facebook, as you do, when I came across a link to a new movie preview. I watched the film trailer for The 5th Wave and was bummed out to see it's not in cinemas until next year. So I got the book instead! The ebook, to be exact. What a
